Knowledge Not Applied

One of the greatest pitfalls of the Christian experience is the trap of knowledge and guidance not applied. The desire to be our own little gods is so deeply ingrained in us that we can actually study devotionals and pray and read our Bibles and tell ourselves that all is well with our walk while we are actually taking part in outright revolt against the LORD through our thoughts, words, and actions not submitted to His service. Constant vigil is required. And one other vital thing: confession of all sin, for Bible study without a proper relationship with God may as well be obituary study. And, an interesting thing happens with a slow, studious, prayerful study of Scripture: more and more sinful nature is revealed. It just can’t get any better than that.
‘Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking some one to devour.’ ~ I Peter 5:8
